New Mac Pro editing towers…
Bid adieu to our old Mac Pros…
Our editing suites will be upgraded over the next several weeks. We have purchasesd two new Mac Pro G5s along with the latest version of Final Cut Studio 2. The G5s will faster be than our current computers and will be upgraded to handle HD editing. Final Cut Studio contains Final Cut Pro 6, Motion 3, Soundtrack Pro 2, Colour, Compressor 3, and DVD Studio Pro 4. This will be the biggest upgrade since the old G5s were purchased nearly 5 years ago. We will also say goodbye to the Film Board’s very first non-linear editing suite–the Mac G3. AKA The Blue Computer. One of the old G5s will be taking its place and continuing to function as an edit suite running FCP 4.5.
*Final Cut Pro and upgrading: This is important, so read on! *Final Cut Pro will open projects files from older versions, but once you open an older file and upgrade it to the new version, you cannot go back to the old version again. This is important to keep in mind if you are editing your projects on other computers that run older FCP versions (for instance, the old G5 that will become Station #3 and run FCP 4.5.)
We have new light meters!
Two brand new Sekonic L-398 Studio Delux III light meters have been purchased. They are available for booking.
