Join the Film Board Committee!

The Film Board Executive collectively oversees the various functions
of the Film Board. The Executive is comprised entirely of members and
meets once a month. All Film Board members are encouraged to get
involved in the Executive. Plus Exec members get discount on equipment
bookings so don’t hesitate!

Keep an eye out for newsletters announcing the next Committee meeting and just drop by.

Toronto Urban Film Festival (TUFF)

Making a great one-minute film, that’s TUFF!

UPDATE: Announcing 2010 Guest Judge DEEPA MEHTA

We are excited to announce that Director/Producer/Screenwriter
Deepa Mehta, who has been described as Canada’s most internationally
renowned woman filmmaker, will be selecting and presenting the
top awards for TUFF 2010.

REMINDER: Trinity Square Video (TSV) is offering seven
Toronto-based filmmakers a free TSV membership and up to $600 of
in-kind support for their TUFF movie. More info below.
Pitch deadline: May 1st

Submit your film before June 1st and avoid the $10 entry fee.
Fees rise to $15 on July 1st. Final Deadline: July 15th.

The Toronto Urban Film Festival (TUFF), the only festival of
its kind in North America, is a 10-day long public film
festival that reaches over 1.3 million subway commuters daily.

TUFF is looking for the best one-minute silent films from
across Canada and around the world.

Over $10,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded to the
winning films, with a top prize of a 5 star trip for
two to Jamaica.

Artist fees of $100 will be payed to every film selected
by our jury to screen on the TTC and on the TUFF website.

The festival runs from September 10 – 19, 2010, at the same
time as TIFF. Films are presented on the Onestop network of
270 subway platform screens inside the TTC, and featured on
the new TUFF website, where people can vote for the Audience
Choice award.

Films are selected by a guest jury, with the top films chosen
by a guest judge Deepa Mehta. The TUFF 2010 Jury: Min Sook Lee,
Jorge Lozano, Kathleen Mullen, Sarah Robayo Sheridan,
Haema Sivanesan, and Michael Zryd.

Filmmakers, animators and video artists are invited to submit
one-minute silent films that speak to an urban audience. Programming
themes this year are: Urban Encounters and Other Stories;
Our Environment and Urban Growth; The Medium is the Message;
Urban Ideas and Politics; Urban Journeys; The City is a Poem;
After Night Falls.

TSV Pitch Award
Need support to make your TUFF film? Trinity Square Video (TSV) is
offering seven filmmakers a complimentary TSV membership and up to
$600 of in-kind support towards both the production and
post-production of their TUFF movie through the Trinity Square
Video Pitch Award. The seven selected TSV Pitch Award winners will
be screened in their own program during TUFF. Filmmakers are invited
to send a one or two paragraph pitch that describes their silent
one-minute film idea, along with a CV, to:
