H’Art Crawl!

December 11, 2008 on 1:51 pm | In Announcements | No Comments

A new annual event at Hart House and on March 19, 2009
it will be kicking-off the campus-wide U of T Festival of the Arts.
The Film Board has several opportunities to show itself off throughout
the House on this day and we need volunteers to help us program our
contribution.

Some possibilities:

- We can request to have a screening, up to 60 minutes or so, on a big
screen in the Music Room. Someone needs to select the movies and
prepare the program and screening tape and run the tape (press play).
This will probably take 4-6 hours at minimum. Normally this would
automatically be handled by our Screening Coordinator, Pollux Steif,
but as this event takes place a few days after the U of T Film
Festival, Pollux may not have time and it would be wise for someone
else to take it on or at least offer to help Pollux. The program
content would likely be some of the “best of” from our juried Gala
from past years or we could consider simply repeating the Gala program
that screened at this year’s festival. Any volunteers?

- We can request a small room, like the North Dining Room, and put
together a similar program and have it on a DVD loop and it plays all
night, as a form of installation, and audience members will drift in
and out over the course of the evening. If we had several programs to
show we could request additional rooms. Someone needs to put those DVD
loops and program notes together. It would probably take 4-6 hours
minimum to prepare one of these programs. Any volunteers?

*Two things from last year which we have already planning to repeat again:

- Super 8 Circus Coordinator Sve Pavic is putting out a call for super
8 loop shooters. The plan is to have at least 4 members create loops
to be installed at various locations in the House.

Email Svebor Pavic for submissions: g_fresh6969@hotmail.com

- Open Super 8 screening in the Chapel, hosted by artist John Porter.
The Chapel is an excellent venue for a small film screening and we
invite people to bring their own films. John has plenty of his own
films to fill out the program. To get involved bring some films to
show or offer to help with the set-up and tear down.

*Any other ideas?
Someone want to project some film or video onto the outside of the
House? Some other creative use for projection?
Early proposals are more likely to be accommodated as the House will
be very busy that night.

If you want to get involved at any level please contact
rick.palidwor@utoronto.ca
