Farm Project
Film Board Farm Project, June 5-7, 2009
WHAT: An exciting weekend movie-making retreat. About 10-20 members and guests spend 48 hours at Hart House farm and make a movie together. This is a very fun and educational weekend away from the city. No experience necessary. An experienced member will lead the proceedings. All the equipment (cameras, lights etc) will be supplied. Everyone is invited to play a hands-on role in making the movie. Your degree of participation is up to you: if you’d rather play Frisbee and go swimming, no one will stop you. (Note that this is open to guests: you can invite friends and family to attend as well).
WHEN: June 5-7, 2009. The bus will leave Hart House at 6pm Friday June 5 and return to Hart House by 6pm Sunday June 7.
All participants will be invited to a meeting on Friday May 29 6pm to meet, greet, and
discuss how the group would like to approach the project. For example, do people have
special skills (e.g. camera experience, acting); does the group want to brainstorm a
script in advance or leave it to when they get to the farm? (we’ve done both in the past)
WHERE: The Hart House farm is a beautiful 150-acre property cradled in the Caledon Hills on the ridge of the Niagara Escarpment, only 1-hour north Toronto. Featuring an outdoor sauna and 2 swimming ponds.
COST: $60. Includes food, lodging, return transportation and all movie-making related expenses. Tickets will be available beginning in March 2009 at uofttix, lower-level Hart House, in person Monday-Friday, 11am – 5pm, by phone 416-978-8849 or on-line www.uofttix.ca.
DEADLINE to register: Thursday May 28, 4pm.
SPECIAL NOTES: The farm has sleeping facilities but participants must bring their own
bedding (sleeping bag) and toiletries and towels. You are also welcome to pitch a tent on
site. There are no showers (it’s only 2 days, you’ll make it. Go for a swim if you need
to refresh). All participants contribute to cooking and cleaning duties. No pets allowed.
